How to mix work, school, and volunteer hours
You do not have to get all 80 hours from one thing. CMS says you can combine qualifying activities to reach 80 hours in a month. School at least half-time can meet the month on its own.
This page is not legal advice. Check with your state Medicaid agency. Your state decides who needs to meet the 80-hour rule and what proof it takes.
A simple mix
Example: 40 hours at a job, 20 hours of classes that are less than half-time, and 20 hours at a food pantry. That is 80 hours. Your state decides what proof it takes for each kind.
Log each kind
In the 80 hours tracker, log work, school, training, and volunteering as their own activities. The report adds them up next to 80 hours.
